Where to go

Register your car or truck

Take renewal form mailed to you by the state to the Tax Assessor-Collector's Offices, first floor, Bank of America building, 916 Main St., Ste. 102. If you do not have a renewal form, take some other document proving vehicle ownership, present it to a clerk and ask for assistance. Proof of insurance liability is required to register your vehicle. Satellite offices are located at 5211 Brownfield Highway and at 240 West Garza in Slaton. Vehicle registrations can also be renewed at United and Lowes supermarkets, which require insurance, a renewal receipt and charge a $1 service fee.

Pay property taxes

Payments should be mailed to the Lubbock Central Appraisal District, P.O. Box 10542, Lubbock 79408, or taken in person to 1715 26th St. by Jan. 31.

Register children for school

Contact the Lubbock Independent School District office of student services at 766-1972 to find out which school a child will attend. Call that school to register.

Immunize your children

Contact your family doctor or the City of Lubbock Health Department at 775-2914, 1902 Texas Ave.

Dump trash

Bring trash to the landfill, located at 8425 N. Ave. P. To reach the landfill, take the Regis Street exit off of I-27, heading west on Regis. Turn north onto North Avenue P. This landfill will close on or about November. The city of Lubbock also operates the West Texas Regional Disposal Facility, 179304 N FM 2528. To get there, go north on I-27 to FM 1729. After about 5 miles, turn north on FM 2528. After about four miles, the landfill is on the right side of the road.
